Light and Heavy Vehicle Driver

Job Description

1. Vehicle Operation:
Safely operate light and heavy vehicles, such as cars, vans, trucks, buses, or specialized transport vehicles, depending on the job requirements.
Transport goods, materials, or passengers to designated locations following prescribed routes and schedules.
Ensure the vehicle is loaded and unloaded correctly and securely.

2. Route Planning & Navigation:
Plan and follow the most efficient routes, considering road conditions, traffic, and delivery schedules.
Use GPS and other navigation tools to stay on course and manage time effectively.

3. Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies are strictly followed.
Adhere to safety guidelines, including wearing seatbelts, using safety equipment, and following specific vehicle handling protocols.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in safe working condition.
Report any mechanical issues, accidents, or damage to the vehicle to the supervisor or maintenance team immediately.

4.Vehicle Maintenance:
Perform regular checks and basic maintenance tasks (e.g., checking oil levels, tire pressure, and other vital systems).
Ensure the vehicle is clean and presentable, both inside and out.
Keep track of vehicle fuel usage, maintenance schedules, and servicing needs.

Qualifications and training required

Valid Light Vehicle Drivers License (for light vehicle driver) and Heavy Vehicle Drivers License (for heavy vehicle driver) according to local regulations.
Proven experience as a driver for light and/or heavy vehicles (e.g., trucks, buses, or vans).
Good driving record with no history of major traffic violations.
Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and ability to perform minor repairs.
Ability to follow maps, directions, and navigation tools.
Strong time-management and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and customer service skills (if applicable).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical fitness for long hours of driving, loading, and unloading cargo.

Key Skills Required


● Experience driving different types of vehicles (e.g., trucks, buses, and vans).
● Familiarity with specific transportation laws and safety standards.
● First aid certification or knowledge is a plus.
● Basic mechanical skills for troubleshooting or handling minor vehicle issues.
● Ability to sit for long periods while driving.
● Ability to lift and carry heavy loads (for truck drivers and delivery roles).
● Capable of working in various weather conditions.
