A caregivers primary responsibility is to care for a patient, and their duties can include:
Personal care: Assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, and laundry
Food and drink: Helping with meal preparation, serving, and consumption
Medication: Administering oral and topical medication as prescribed by a doctor
Mobility: Assisting with mobility, such as moving around the home or transporting the patient by car.
Emotional support: Providing companionship and emotional support.
Home management: Assisting with organization, food preparation, and maintenance.
Communication: Communicating with medical staff and monitoring the patients healthcare plan.
Record keeping: Maintaining records of all treatment being administered.
Errands: Running errands, such as grocery shopping and laundry drop-offs and pickups.
Safety: Addressing home safety issues, such as installing handrails, raised toilet seats, grab bars, non-skid mats, nightlights, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, and fire extinguishers
